I've remembered to post again!

cloud

I'm forever taking pics of clouds, and completely forgetting to post... this one was over my house a couple of days ago - the double shape is the shadow of the lower cloud being cast onto a much higher cloud. Very cool, though as usual my photographs fail to catch the full glory!

I finally remembered to post!

I fail at taking decent sky piccies - I only ever seem to have my phone with me when I see a fab cloud. Ho hum!

I did get this one a couple of weeks ago - there's a really nice corona right in the middle, which naturally doesn't show up in a photo! But still, wind clouds (cirrostratus maybe?) and gorgeous dark blue sky.

Today's cloud

Not a great picture, but rather good clouds this late afternoon...

Back to the skies!

I was so pleased to see byslantedlight' post here! So here's one of my summer (August) pictures. It's taken from our balcony in Portugal, and made me think of Wordsworth's lonely cloud! In fact it was the first of quite a build up and we expected a storm but it never materialised.

Our first efforts sent me off to learn more but I have now forgotten everything and my crib-sheet is in Portugal so if someone else could tag this or tell me what to do I'd be grateful.

A Cloud Collecting Challenge

Hello! I found myself posting cloud pics the other day, and only briefly thinking of posting them here before just putting them up at my lj. Then moth2fic pointed out that we don't seem to be using this comm any more, and that it really was a nice wee collection of eye-candy clouds, and that we should, so... if anyone else is still out there too - maybe we could play with a challenge or two, to get us going again? We can start off really simply, anyway...

Please post one of your favourite cloud pictures to the comm!

I'm not sure it's been a very good year for clouds here, where I currently am - even contrails seem to have been awol (I particularly noticed this the day before yesterday, because suddenly they were back (I wonder what that's all about!) Anyway - I think it'd be nice to see some cloud pics popping up in my flist again - what d'you reckon...?

And here's one of mine, to start with.

I love that there's all sorts going on up there - wispy cirrus clouds, virga jellyfish clouds, cumulus, darker stratus, even a cloud-shadow, I think! - and against such a sunny blue background... (well, it's looking particularly grey here today!) This was taken outside my home in Cambridgeshire, in May 2011.

We've had snow, we've had sun, then a giant-sized easter bun(ny)...

It's been one of those weather-bizarre mornings... it was trying to snow when I got up, then it did snow, in a wee-flakes kind of way, then there was hail with the snow, then the sun came out and we had blue skies, now we've just had a bit more snow falling and the sun's come out again! I mean, I do like changeable weather, but... *g*

And in the middle of it all - something spring-ish: the Easter bunny!

You can see him, right? All the way down to a woffly nose and a bump of a tail? *g*

PS - it's just started snowing again!

Among the Clouds Part 2

A little while ago I posted some photos taken during my flight from Brisbane to Adelaide here. On the last photo I couldn't quite get the window of the plane and the wing tip both into the frame. However, our newest member, aletheiafelinea very kindly offered to manipulate the couple of photos I had taken of the same shot so that both the window and the wing tip could appear in the one pic.

I just wanted to share with you all how great it has come out.  It's amazing what can be achieved with composite photos and aletheiafelinea's talent:)

Hello!

May I come in? :) moth2fic recommended me this sky-high comm and I'm grateful to her for it.
I'm not good in introducing myself, so I'll say only that I like to play sometimes with a camera or a some graphic tool, and everything more about me is to find on my profile and journal.
I have brought something from me. Will you forgive me a long entry?
(Ahem, full views are worthwhile.)

Icarus. The photo taken in September and online from a few days. Photos, in fact, it's a patchwork composed of fourteen shoots. We've already discussed it here. You find there also the explanation of the title. Bruegel and such...

Portugal in May

We have had daily thunderstorms. Most days start with clear blue skies then clouds like the ones here barrel up over the mountains and spread out into general cloud cover, at which point it gets very noisy and the rain is amazing - one day it filled the water butt in one 'shower'. There are, of course, strong gusts of wind as the storms sweep in, but it is mostly very opressive. I meant to get the clouds at a different stage but the day I saw them my camera battery ran out at the wrong moment.

They rarely seem to form the traditional anvil shape but are very solid-looking and move and form fast.

All the clouds in the sky...

It was a gorgeous day for clouds here today - I was deperate for my camera whenever another lovely floaty one drifted by my work window, but I'd left it at home. Luckily, there were some left over tonight...

There are so many different types of cloud in this pic that I don't know where to start - cumulus, stratocumulus (just edging in at the bottom, from the western horizon), cirrus, fibratus, virga... and even a distrail!

I swear there's a woman walking up there - can you see her?

I want to post more pics, cos it was a real Dr Seuss cloud day - all sprouts and tufts and feathers - but it's getting on for dark outside (just past 10pm), and I must get to bed... *g*
